Communication between people is considered one of the greatest achievements of the human race. It is the one thing that seems to set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom, this fact that we can construct complex sounds together and assign all the nuances that create associations in another's mind. Communication can relay emotions and information in relatively quick time. Click to see entire article.

Burma has finally made the news. A country that was veiled in Buddhist mystique and shadows has had its doors thrown open by the imprisoned citizens who reside in its confines. Those prisoners are the citizens who have been forced to smile and speak a language that was not their own, instead a Newspeak that the military regime forced upon them. Deeper into the wild arenas of the Smoky Mountains we walked, further and further away from civilizations, cars, cares, and worries. Certainly, without civilization, nature would be a master of whom we would be completely at mercy. We would be reliant on her whims, on her moods, with no manmade contraptions to at least give the illusion of keeping her at bay. Click to see entire article. |
The lake had a way of being there, not knowing that it was situated on a major hub. What is the world today supposed to be? What is it about, and why? Is there any reason to even care about asking these questions anymore? What is a church of the streets, anyway? The "First Church of The Streets" e-zine is a means of answering these questions. It is non-sectarian in the sense that it doesn't rely on any one religion to satisfy these answers. Neither does the church of the streets negate religion for comfort in secular classic philosophy. With it not being constrained to any particular dogma, the church of the streets can employ any or all of these methods. It is also free to use those schools which are considered too foolish to answer anything by so-called higher thinkers, such as popular culture. Just as religion and philosophy seem to give comfort to many in times of uncertainty, to many, popular culture is a refuge and an oasis. In this respect, it is as much a part of the church of the streets as anything else. History
Starting in 1998 I started posting my poetry and short stories online. My first website was an inclusion of these writings. When I completed my first two novels, I made them available online, in their entirety: New Earth Works. The E-zine was a natural extension of this activity. It went online in March 2003. It includes observations, as well as expository thinking. © 2003-2007 All writing, music or photography presented on this site is the property of their respective and individual creators.
