3D Colors Edge to Edge - This is our Photo of the Month ŠJohn B. 2005

This month's Photo displays
how to make colors go Edge to Edge.

This photo was done with the following:

a camera with a macro lens, a tripod, a blank cd or dvd, a flashlight, a candle, a water sprayer (like a glass cleaner bottle filled with water), and last but not least a photographer.

Place disk on a flat surface in a dimly lit room. Give a spray of water onto the disk to create droplets. The tripod with camera is then centered over one part of the disk (photographer picks which part of the disk looks best).
Set camera with a 4 second shutter speed setting and the lens f/stop set to f/22 (if lens doesn't have f/22 try f/16).

The next step is trying to hold a candle and flashlight at the same time. The flashlight goes beneath camera and candle goes right in front of camera. Now you are ready to shoot (if camera has timer, use it). When shutter opens, move both light sources (candle and flashlight) from side to side of the disk during the 4 second shutter.

This is how I got the colors to go Edge to Edge (via candle). The color in each drop of water was created with the flashlight.
