“EVER AFTER:
THE SNOW WHITE SYNDROME”

The Snow White Syndrome. Adult women are carriers; they contracted it from their mothers and, in turn, pass it on to their own daughters. What is the cause of this condition? One source may be the found in the words of the song, from the animated movie Snow White, "Some day, my prince will come." The result is a new generation of young women awaiting the arrival of their own "prince" and riding away "happily ever after." Does this ever happen? Sometimes, though very rarely; reality usually overrides this malady.

What are the symptoms? The most telltale symptom is where a woman will try to change the man, with whom she is either married or involved. In extreme cases, a woman will remain in a destructive relationship, certain that love will conquer all and that, if she loves her chosen prince enough, things will improve. In an age where domestic violence and divorce are rampant, it should be remembered that all men are not "Prince Charming" and sometimes a frog can be more favorable than a prince. Fairy tales are contrived of fantasy, not flesh and blood; a fantasy being will never take flesh and blood form.

The difference can be made in early detection. Daughters need to be taught the difference between reality and fiction, from an early age. Fairy tales are beautiful, age old stories; if they are enjoyed as the mere stories that they are, this would be a good beginning-one daughter at a time. Daughters need to realize and accept that no one is perfect. When this happens, perhaps we will be that much closer to finding a cure, so that all women might live happily ever after.

“REPHRASING LOVE”
Love has become such an overused word it is nearly cliché. Someone loves her husband, someone loves chocolate ice cream, someone loves the rock group Creed, someone loves God.     Click to see!

“A TRIBUTE TO DR. KING”
It was on the day that is celebrated as Martin Luther King's birthday, much the way that both Honest George and Abe are celebrated in one fell swoop with appliance sales at the mall. Click to see!
